BUY LOW, STAY HIGH #1
[National Marijuana Market Report for 6/21 – 6/27]
•Spot index up 1% to $1,717 per pound, with a standard deviation of $241
Raids in the Emerald Triangle — encompassing the seizure of roughly 250,000 pounds of cannabis — have had negligible impact on national prices.
But in California the volume weighted average price for a pound of marijuana has spiked 9% from last week to $1,652.
•Forward curve up slightly in August, but down significantly in December
Extreme heat in Colorado and Oregon is forcing growers to reduce production or invest in supplementary HVAC equipment. This is predicted to increase the average price per pound as high as $1,875.
But by December, that number is expected to be back down as low as $1,350. And some smaller growers have resigned themselves to the possibility of prices in the $1,200 range.
